Automate Customer Feedback Analysis with Paradime and OpenClaw

Customer feedback is a goldmine — but only if you actually process it. Most teams collect feedback in Google Sheets, Typeform, or Intercom, and then… nothing. The spreadsheet grows. Themes go unnoticed. Sentiment shifts silently. By the time someone manually reads through hundreds of entries, the damage is done.

This guide gives you a repeatable, automated workflow to turn raw customer feedback into categorized, sentiment-scored reports — delivered to Slack every week — using Paradime and OpenClaw. No vague "optimize your process" advice. You'll walk away with a concrete pipeline: measure → identify → fix → validate savings.

What is Paradime?

Paradime is an all-in-one AI-native platform for data teams, built as a replacement for dbt Cloud™. It lets you code, ship, fix, and scale data pipelines for analytics and AI. Key features include:

For this workflow, we'll primarily use Bolt for weekly scheduling and dbt™ Python models for the feedback analysis pipeline.

What is OpenClaw?

OpenClaw is a personal AI assistant that runs on your own devices. It connects to messaging platforms like Slack, Telegram, WhatsApp, and Discord, and supports AI-powered automation through skills — modular capabilities the agent can invoke during conversations or scheduled tasks.

Key capabilities relevant to our workflow:

  • Skills ecosystem — Pre-built and custom skills for Google Sheets, Slack, sentiment analysis, and more.

  • Local-first architecture — Data stays on your machine in a local SQLite database.

  • Multi-channel delivery — Send reports to Slack, Telegram, or any connected channel.

  • Cron & scheduling — Built-in heartbeat and cron scheduling for automated tasks.

We'll use OpenClaw's Google Sheets API skill to read feedback, the sentiment scoring skill for analysis, and Slack integration for report delivery.

Setup: openclaw-sdk + Google Sheets API

Prerequisites

Before you start, ensure you have:

  • Node.js 22+ installed

  • A Google Cloud project with the Google Sheets API enabled

  • A Google service account with its JSON key downloaded

  • Your feedback spreadsheet shared with the service account email

  • An OpenClaw API key (or a configured AI provider like OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google)

  • A Slack Incoming Webhook URL for report delivery

Step 1: Install OpenClaw

The onboarding wizard walks you through configuring your AI provider, selecting a model, and connecting your first channel.

Step 2: Install the Google Sheets Skill

Step 3: Install the Sentiment Scoring Skill

This installs a lightweight sentiment-scoring pipeline that rates text from -1 (negative) to +1 (positive).

Here's where the pipeline comes together. We'll build a custom OpenClaw skill that:

  1. Reads feedback entries from Google Sheets

  2. Categorizes each entry by theme (UX, Pricing, Support, Features)

  3. Calculates sentiment trends per category

  4. Generates a structured report

  5. Posts the report to Slack

Setting Variables in Paradime Bolt

When scheduling this pipeline in Paradime Bolt, configure environment variables through the Bolt UI:

  1. Navigate to Settings → Workspaces → Environment Variables

  2. In the Bolt Schedules section, click Add New

  3. Enter the key (e.g., GOOGLE_CREDENTIALS_JSON) and value

  4. Click Save

For bulk setup, use the Bulk Upload option with a CSV file:

Individual schedules can override global defaults — useful for routing reports to different Slack channels per environment (dev vs. prod).

Bolt Schedule: Weekly Cron

Now we wire everything into Paradime Bolt for automated weekly execution. Bolt supports four trigger types:

Option A: Configure via the Bolt UI

  1. Go to Bolt in Paradime and click Create Schedule

  2. Set Schedule Name to weekly_feedback_analysis

  3. Choose Trigger Type → Scheduled Run

  4. Enter cron expression: 0 9 * * 1 (every Monday at 9 AM UTC)

  5. Configure Commands:

  6. Under Notification Settings, add a Slack destination and toggle notifications for Failure and SLA events

Option B: Configure as Code (YAML)

Create or update paradime_schedules.yml in your dbt™ project root:

The dbt™ Python Model

Create a dbt™ Python model that wraps the feedback analysis logic. This runs inside your warehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks):

Monitoring and Debugging

Once your weekly pipeline is running, you need visibility into its health. Paradime Bolt provides three layers of observability:

Setting Up Alerts

Configure Bolt notifications so you never miss a failure:

  1. In the Bolt UI, edit your schedule

  2. Under Notification Settings, click Add Destination

  3. Choose Slack and select your connected workspace

  4. Toggle notifications for Failure and SLA (set a threshold, e.g., 30 minutes)

  5. Click Deploy

You can also create custom Alert Templates under Bolt → Alert Templates to customize the Slack message format.

OpenClaw Gateway Monitoring

For the OpenClaw side of the pipeline, use these diagnostic commands:

Healthy output signals:

  • Runtime: running

  • RPC probe: ok

  • Channels: connected/ready

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Google Sheets Permission Errors

Symptom: Error: The caller does not have permission when reading the spreadsheet.

Fix:

  1. Confirm the spreadsheet is shared with your service account email (found in the JSON key file under client_email)

  2. Verify the Google Sheets API is enabled in your Google Cloud project

  3. Check that GOOGLE_CREDENTIALS_JSON contains valid JSON — a common mistake is missing quotes or truncation

OpenClaw Gateway Won't Start

Symptom: EADDRINUSE or Gateway start blocked errors.

Fix:

Sentiment Skill Returns No Output

Fix:

  1. Ensure expanso-edge is in your PATH: which expanso-edge

  2. Test the pipeline directly: echo "Great product!" | expanso-edge run pipeline-cli.yaml

  3. Restart the OpenClaw gateway to reload skills: openclaw gateway restart

Bolt Schedule Not Triggering

Symptom: The weekly cron job doesn't fire.

Fix:

  1. Verify your cron expression at crontab.guru

  2. Confirm the schedule is deployed (not in draft state) — look for the green "Active" badge

  3. Check that the schedule isn't set to OFF — if the cron toggle is off, the schedule only runs via API

  4. Review timezone settings — Bolt defaults to UTC

Slack Webhook Returns 403 or 404

Symptom: curl to $SLACK_WEBHOOK_URL returns an error.

Fix:

  1. Regenerate the webhook URL in your Slack app settings (webhooks can be revoked)

  2. Ensure the webhook is configured for the correct channel

  3. Test manually:

dbt™ Python Model Fails with Import Errors

Symptom: ModuleNotFoundError when running the Python model in Bolt.

Fix:

  • Snowflake: Use Snowpark's built-in libraries (pandas, numpy). External packages require an Anaconda channel configuration.

  • BigQuery: BigQuery DataFrames supports pandas and scikit-learn natively.

  • Databricks: PySpark is available by default; add custom packages via cluster configuration.

The Measure → Identify → Fix → Validate Loop

When something breaks, follow this repeatable debugging workflow:

  1. Measure — Open Bolt Run History, check the run status and Summary Logs

  2. Identify — Drill into Console Logs or Debug Logs to find the exact failure point

  3. Fix — Apply the targeted fix from the troubleshooting table above

  4. Validate — Trigger a manual run from the Bolt UI and confirm the output reaches Slack

Wrapping Up

You now have a complete, automated customer feedback analysis pipeline that:

  • Reads fresh feedback from Google Sheets every week

  • Categorizes entries into UX, Pricing, Support, and Features themes

  • Scores sentiment on a continuous scale from -1 to +1

  • Delivers a structured report to Slack with trend indicators

  • Runs on a weekly cron schedule via Paradime Bolt

  • Self-monitors with Bolt logs, DinoAI debugging, and Slack failure alerts

The measure → identify → fix → validate workflow ensures that when something breaks (and it will), you have a repeatable path back to green.

  1. Expand your categories — Add theme keywords specific to your product domain

  2. Add dbt™ tests — Use dbt_llm_evals to evaluate AI-generated categorizations against a human-labeled baseline

  3. Build trend dashboards — Query the feedback_sentiment_report model in your BI tool to track sentiment over time

  4. Set up On Run Completion triggers — Chain downstream models that aggregate monthly trends or trigger alerts when sentiment drops below a threshold
